In patients with significant rectal bleeding from internal hemorrhoids, endoscopic therapy can provide relief. This is performed either with hemorrhoidal band ligation or with electrocautery/thermal therapy.In hemorrhoid band ligation, rubber bands are used to ligate the internal hemorrhoids in a circular fashion around the anal opening.
